Dennis Conner is the world’s most successful America’s Cup Skipper, having earned the nickname, “Mr. America’s Cup” for his four wins and his role in transforming the race from an amateur competition to a professional sport.  Conner is the winner of more than 100 America’s Cup Trial races and won the Cup four times in 1974, 1980, 1987 and 1988.  He also made it to the America’s Cup finals in 1983 and 1995. In addition to his America’s Cup victories, Conner also won a bronze medal at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and has been named U.S. Yachtsman of the Year three times.
