Yukito Ito, NTT Communications Senior Vice President, recently presented at NTT’s Global Forum in Paris.  The Global Forum brings together leaders in business as they discuss ICT in order move their industry forward. One hot topic this year was the use of Software Defined Networking (SDN). At the forum, Ito-san presented on how NTT is utilizing this revolutionary SDN technology. By virtualizing existing networks, it will allow the complicated process of configuration to become automated, effectively weeding out human error and increasing speed to market.

Yukito Ito is also a board member of the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organization focusing on driving the commercialization of OpenFlow and SDN standardization.  By utilizing OpenFlow and SDN technologies, companies will be able to reduce operating expenditure as well as shorten the time it takes to launch new functions in the market.  While there are areas in need of further improvement, Ito-san’s presentation lays out current benefits as well as what will be done in the future to improve the virtualization service.
